Homework week 1

Hi D, and anyone else who forgot...
The homework this weekend is to write a cause/effect essay about the changes in diet in your country. You can focus on either the causes, the effects, or both, but be sure it is clear which you choose. The essay should be 4-6 paragraphs long.
Any questions, just add them here, in the comment section.

Hi everybody, just a note to say we won't bother with the student news this week. It was all about the Boston bombings and it's all out of date now. Anyway, you can all be working on your compare/contrast essay...........

Welcome

This is the Level 9 class of March 2013. These blogs will be created and used by students in order to show their writing skills. You will be doing two kinds of writing on the blog. The first is journal writing, which is free writing around a topic. You don't have to think too much about grammar and spelling, it's just a  chance to generate some ideas and share some views. The second type will be essay writing. During this session we will look at different kinds of academic essays (narrative, descriptive, argumentative, etc) and you will write one essay of each type. The essay should be carefully planned with attention paid to grammar and spelling as well as organization (introduction, thesis, conclusion etc).
The blogs will be yours to be as creative as possible with. You can add pictures, video, graphic, whatever. We will be able to read each others blogs, and I will encourage you to comment and interact with classmates frequently.
Welcome to the class, I hope we'll have some fun , as well as improve our writing skills.
